Prof. Belding’s research interests are in networking, including the analysis of social networks and network trace data. Key applications of this work include understanding network performance and usage, in part to inform the design of novel networking technologies that expand Internet access to remote regions, marginalized populations, and communities affected by natural disasters. Prof. Belding also analyzes social media to analyze and detect online behavior such as hate speech and cyberbullying.
